A new era of Junior A Hockey is about to begin in Beaver Valley as the Nitehawks, along with 13 fellow KIJHL teams, elevate to Junior A tier 1 hockey as part of the newly formed British Columbia Hockey Conference (BCHC), as the Hawks open the season on September 19th against the Fernie Ghostriders.
The Nitehawks schedule will look a bit different this coming season. As part of the new Kootenay Division, the league will expand to a 50 game schedule, up from the traditional 44 game season that have been custom over the last many years. The Nitehawks will form the newly branded Kootenay Division of the BCHC, along with Nelson, Grand Forks, Fernie, Kimberley and Columbia Valley. For this year, for the Nitehawks there will be no regular season games against the eight Mainland division teams who help make up the 22 teams across BC that make up the BCHC.
