Mealey, Percival & Stojan named Instat KIJHL 3 Stars

 

 

Christian Mealey (Kimberley Dynamiters), Kaleb Percival (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) and Connor Stojan (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) have been selected as the Instat 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending March 12, 2023.

Mealey – Top Forward – The Calgary, Alberta product had four goals and five assists for nine points in four games to help the Dynamiters force Game 7 against the Fernie Ghostriders. In Game 4, Mealey assisted on the winning goal and set up the insurance goal as he put up three goals and three assists in an 8-2 Dynamiters win. In Game 5, he assisted on the winning goal in a 4-2 Dynamiters win.

Percival – Top Defenceman – The Nelson product had a goal and four assists in four games to help the Nitehawks claw back and force Game 7 against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. He had a goal and an assist in their 6-5 triple overtime loss, scoring the tying goal on the power-play to force OT. In Game 5, Percival had two assists, setting up the 2-0 and 3-0 goals in a 4-0 victory. In Game 6, Percival assisted on the 4-1 goal in a 5-1 victory. It’s the third straight week that Percival has been named the Top Defenceman. Percival sits sixth overall in points in the KIJHL playoffs with four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 13 games, which ranks him first among defencemen.

Stojan – Top Goalie – The Grand Prairie, Alberta product had two wins, a loss and an overtime loss in four games for the Nitehawks, forcing Game 7 against the Thunder Cats. Stojan turned aside 90 of 96 shots, including 45 in the three overtime periods combined, in a 6-5 loss in Game 4. In Game 5, Stojan earned a 41-save shutout, then stopped 34 of 35 shots in a 5-1 win. He posted a .952 SP  and a 2.02 GAA.
