KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 20

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 20th week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlight the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide positioning.

 

The Grand Forks Border Bruins jumped a spot to No. 1. They won two of their three games during the week, starting with a 5-2 win over the Castlegar Rebels. Levi Astill netted the winner. Then the Border Bruins defeated the Osoyoos Coyotes 4-2 with Astill again netting the winner with his 30th goal. The Border Bruins lost their final game 3-2 in overtime to the Fernie Ghostriders.

 

 

The Kimberley Dynamiters drop a spot to No. 2 winning their lone game of the week 5-3 over Golden. Tristan Weill scored the winner and led the Dynamiters with two goals (18) and three points. 

 

 

The Princeton Posse stay at No. 3. They had back-to-back games in Revelstoke against the Grizzlies, winning the first one 1-0. Matthew Langdon’s 31st goal won it for the Posse with Blake Sittler having a strong 25-save shutout performance. Kayne Van Metre (2) scored the 5-4 winner for the Posse in the second game. Gibson Horne was solid making 30 saves. 

 

 

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks are back in the top-five with the No. 4 spot. They return to action on Feb. 7 after not playing last week.

 

 

 

The Merritt Centennials are No. 5. They won two of their three games starting with a 4-3 victory over the Osoyoos Coyotes. The Centennials completed a comeback with two goals in the final minute and Steven Foster scored the winner with 21 seconds left. They defeated the Williams Lake Mustangs 6-5 in a shootout with Sam Giangualano netting the winner. The Centennials wrapped up the week with a 3-2 loss to the Kamloops Storm.
