KIJHL Power Rankings (Week 16)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Power Rankings for Week 16.

 

The Revelstoke Grizzlies have taken the No.1 spot from the Beaver Valley Nitehawks following a pair of wins last week. They defeated the Kelowna Chiefs 4-3 in overtime. Maddox Popke scored twice (4), including the winner and Austin Seibel made 32 saves. They then defeated the 100 Mile House Wranglers 6-1. Brennen Coutts scored twice (12) including the winner, while William Stewart saved 23 of 24 shots. The Grizzlies are third overall in the KIJHL with a 22-5-0-2 record.

 

The Beaver Valley Nitehawks lost their lone game of the week to the new-look Creston Valley Thunder Cats 4-1. Ayden Probe scored on the power-play and Preston Shumate saved 38 of 41 shots. The Nitehawks are fourth overall with a record of 23-7-0.

 

 

The Quesnel River Rush make their first Power Rankings appearance as they won their lone game last week – 5-1 over the Wranglers on Jan. 9. Rhyle Weaselhead (3) netted the winner and Diego Cazac had two points in his debut against his former team. Both his points came on the power-play. Kyan Gray stopped 22 of 23 shots. The River Rush are 3-0 in 2026 and are 10th overall in the league with a record of 16-12-3-1.  

 

The Williams Lake Mustangs also make their Power Rankings debut as they earned a pair of wins during the week. They doubled up the Kamloops Storm 6-3 on Jan. 9. Logan Hauk (16) scored the first of three straight goals to lead them to victory with Jaxson Dikur stopping 36 of 39 shots. Blake Collison led with two goals (5) with the Mustangs getting three-point performances by Asher Lucas and Kaelen Swanson. They defeated the Chase Heat 4-1 on Jan. 10. Lucas led the way with two goals, the winner, and three points. Nathen Wilson was strong making 27 saves. Since rejoining the Mustangs on Jan. 2, Lucas has four goals and 10 points in four games.

 

The Princeton Posse pocketed a pair of wins. Against the Sicamous Eagles, they won 5-2 on Jan. 9 thanks to four straight goals with Simon Cecconi netting the winner. Sharky Nowek stopped 27 of 29. On Jan. 10, the Posse topped the Spokane Braves 3-2 in overtime. Justice Loewen drove the Posse’s offence with a goal (18) and three points, including setting up both Carson Hebert’s goals – the second being the overtime winner. Nowek stopped 25 of 27 shots for Princeton. The Posse are fifth overall in the league with a record of 22-7-0-2.
